August 11, 2022
I am sincerely grateful to all participants for supporting the 26th AsRES Annual Conference: 2022 AsRES-AREUEA Joint Conference in Tokyo, Japan.
We achieved great success at the joint conference held in a hybrid format. That is, we had 119 onsite and 143 online participants and at the same time 24 AsRES and 22 AREUEA sessions. In other words, we had 18 on-site and 28 online sessions. I think the Tokyo Team presented a “new normal of the international conference” in order to make the “community of real estate study” sustainable.
More specifically, followed by my opening remarks, we had a distinguished keynote speech, and invited talks on Day 1. From Day 2 to Day 4, we had 178 contributed papers presented either onsite or online. Moreover, we had the first-in-three-years reception, conference dinner, and gala dinner. At the gala dinner, AsRES presented the 2022 Homer Hoyt Institute Best Paper Award to Cameron LaPoint and Shogo Sakabe for their paper “Place-Based Policies and the Geography of Corporate Investment.”
I would like to thank you all again and hand off a baton to Professor David Chan and Professor Desmond Tsang who will organize the 2023 AsRES-GCREC Joint International Real Estate Conference in Hong Kong SAR, China.
Keep safe and see you next year.
Best,
Hiroshi Ishijima, Ph.D.
Immediate Past President of Asian Real Estate Society (AsRES) and President of Japanese Association of Real Estate Financial Engineering (JAREFE)
